2017 PINOT BLANC, ORSI VINEYARD, MENDOCINO
2017 PINOT BLANC, ORSI VINEYARD, MENDOCINO
Our Price: $19.00

Once again 2016 has turned out to be a terrific vintage at Orsi Vineyard in Mendocino. When we first walked this vineyard in spring 2005, we envisioned creating a unoaked white from a varietal that had good natural acidity, aromatic lift and the ability to be versatile as an aperitif and equally complimentary tableside. The 2016 Orsi definitely delivers on that premise. We picked in two passes in 2016, leaving the oldest section on the vine for added maturity. The result is classic Orsi Pinot Blanc, with the citrus and apple-inflected fruit balanced by natural acidity. Refreshing and inviting, the 2016 Orsi has that special interplay of fruit and tension that is reserved only for the best of vintages.

Textbook Orsi Vineyard aromatics of roasted lemon, citrus and green apple. The palate is lively and bright, with the orchard citrus fruits juicy and textured, while the acidity supplies ample freshness and delineation. Savory, light, refreshing and very versatile tableside.

2017 ALONDRA CHARDONNAY, SONOMA
2017 ALONDRA CHARDONNAY, SONOMA
Our Price: $19.00

Middleridge Ranch lies in a north to south valley just east of Hopland and the Russian River in Mendocino County. We continue to produce our Chardonnay without fermenting in oak, instead the goal is to emphasize the pure fruit coming off this beautiful vineyard. In 2013, we hand-picked this Dijon clone vineyard early morning on September 6 under perfect conditions. After crushing into a stainless steel tank, lees contact was allowed for four months, then we let the fruit of Middleridge Ranch shine. We are thrilled that 2013 has proven to be another stellar vintage in Northern California, with fully mature fruit and soft, integrated tannins. This will be a precocious, satisfying vintage providing much pleasure for early consumption and yet also a candidate for the cellar.

2014 RED BELLY, NORTH COAST
2014 RED BELLY, NORTH COAST
Our Price: $20.00

It is hard to believe that this is our ninth edition of Red Belly, our ode to the South of France where blending varietals to achieve the perfect synergy is the way of life. 2014 Red Belly is a composition of two Carignane sites in Redwood Valley – our old friend Niemi vineyard and the addition of 100 year old vines from Casa Verde Vineyard, a ¼ mile to the south of Niemi. Lawer Vineyard in Knights Valley is the Syrah element, adding depth and power to the final blend. The final piece of the puzzle is Grenache from Charlie Sawyer’s vineyard above Ukiah, adding florals and that silky, spiced red cherry fruit. With the addition of Casa Verde, our production in 2014 reached 50 barrels of Red Belly. This is a classic vintage for Red Belly to be enjoyed anytime – fruit, spice, texture, tannins all in seamless cohesion.

2014 GRENACHE, MENDOCINO
2014 GRENACHE, MENDOCINO
Our Price: $28.00

This expression of Grenache is all about purity, ripeness, elegance and finesse. Aromas of black cherry, violet and bakers chocolate. On the palate, the cherry fruit is ripe and expressive, textured and subtlety viscous, like a creamed cherry flecked with cocoa nibs. Sleek and refined, with structure and ripeness in deft balance.

2013 SKYLARK ‘LAS AVES’, NORTH COAST
2013 SKYLARK ‘LAS AVES’, NORTH COAST
Our Price: $30.00

Las Aves is our continued exploration of Rhone varietals married with Cabernet Sauvignon as done brilliantly in the Priorat region of Spain. Our Niemi Vineyard Carignane, planted in the 1950s, works beautifully with Cabernet Sauvignon, lending an earth and structure component to the ripe fruit profile of the Cabernet. The blend is made complete by the floral character of Sawyer Vineyard Grenache and the density and midpalate of Lawer Vineyard Syrah. With a smaller Carignane crop in 2013, the blend this vintage has more inclusion of Lawer Syrah, which may be our finest vintage from this site.

47% Syrah 19% Cabernet Sauvignon 17% Grenache 17% Carignane

Saturated ruby color. Aromatic dark berry fruit of cassis and blackberry with an intriguing forest floor element. The palate is layered with the dark berry fruit viscosity, tempered by the earth and soil note from the Carignane. The textural impression is rich without being heavy, with the fine-grained tannins completely woven into the fabric of fruit

2014 LAWER VINEYARD, KNIGHTS VALLEY
2014 LAWER VINEYARD, KNIGHTS VALLEY
Our Price: $45.00

Opaque. Beguiling nose of bacon fat, raspberry and iron rich graphite. The dark fruit viscosity is buffered by structure and acidity, leading into a focused, pure finish. Very approachable now with a decant and this vintage will age gracefully.

2013 ALONDRA CABERNET SAUVIGNON, NAPA
2013 ALONDRA CABERNET SAUVIGNON, NAPA
Our Price: $45.00

2013 Alondra Cabernet is sourced from an organic vineyard on Mee Lane in the Rutherford appellation of Napa Valley. The soil composition here, gravel and alluvial loam, is perfectly suited to the production of Cabernet Sauvignon. 2013 was a generous vintage in Napa, with no real heat spikes or adverse weather conditions. We harvested on October 23, hand sorted in the vineyard, cold soaked in the winery, then fermented in a small, open top tank. The barrel regimen is French wood, 25% new but without any evident new wood characters. Our goal here is to produce varietally pure Cabernet that is versatile and elegant tableside. 200 cases produced.

Ruby/violet. Black cherry, cassis, roasted sweet herbs, and a sprinkling of that classic Rutherford dust. The palate is elegant and perfumed, with the fruit and earth components combining to ensure that real sense of place. As with many 2013s, the finishing tannins are fine-grained and silky, providing for early enjoyment.

2017 PINK BELLY ROSE
2017 PINK BELLY ROSE
Our Price: $19.00

Our story of rose started in 2007, when we produced a small amount of Grenache rose meant to be house wine for our families. We love the beautiful simplicity of rose, the freshness, the ability to be light yet fully flavorful. It is the ultimate quaffer. It wasn’t our master plan to produce rose in commercial quantities, but organically the demand and production grew together. With this increase, we outgrew our block at Kurt Ashurst’s Grenache vineyard in Hopland. To meet the demand, we added fruit from Charlie Sawyer’s stellar Grenache site above Ukiah, our long-time home for our Grenache noir. As the northeast corner of this vineyard ripens first, we picked those rows on September 5th to add to our rose production. The two sites were whole-cluster pressed separately and then blended after primary fermentation. With the ability to add this corner of Sawyer to our production, now it’s not just pink for us it’s pink for all.

Salmon pink color. Aromas of the red fruits of summer: strawberry, cherry and watermelon with complexities of citrus and orange peel. While the palate is sleek and defined, Sawyer has added more dimension and midpalate texture. The freshly crushed red fruits and candied orange peel dovetail into a refreshingly dry finish. California sun and warmth meet their Provencal heritage.
