2016 PINOT BLANC, ORSI VINEYARD, MENDOCINO
Our Price: $19.00

2015 was yet another terrific vintage for grape-growing in Northern California. The only down side was the unusually cold weather in May, adversely affecting flowering and ultimately severely reducing crop size. Orsi Vineyard definitely felt that reduction, with crop size 40% below a normal vintage. The good news is that it was off only in volume, as the fruit quality was absolutely top notch. It was a pick it, press it and get out of the way vintage for Orsi. We love the results. 550 cases produced

Pale yellow in the glass. Classic Orsi Vineyard aromatics of roasted lemon, green apple and tangerine. The palate is concentrated yet silky, with the generous fruit complimented by notes of dusted lemon. The creamy finish is perfectly buffered by natural acidity.

2016 PINK BELLY ROSE, MENDOCINO
Our Price: $19.00

The goal for Pink Belly Rose is to bring Provence to you. Lofty aspiration for sure, but we think we have all the right components to do it. Grenache planted on rocky subsoils, picked early just for rose, pressed after minimal skin contact for that touch of color, and then off to its stainless steel home for upbringing. Rose for the purist. We took a larger section of Kurt Ashurst’s Grenache vineyard to increase our production because we can’t ever seem to have enough Pink Belly Rose.

Pale salmon color. The aromatics begin as crushed cherry and strawberry, then fan into citrus skin and orange peel, finishing with a floral topnote. The palate is sleek and refined, with stony soil notes inside the red cherry and citrus fruit profile. The lingering finish is zesty, fresh and bone dry.

2014 ALONDRA CHARDONNAY, SONOMA
Our Price: $19.00

Middleridge Ranch lies in a north to south valley just east of Hopland and the Russian River in Mendocino County. We continue to produce our Chardonnay without fermenting in oak, instead the goal is to emphasize the pure fruit coming off this beautiful vineyard. In 2013, we hand-picked this Dijon clone vineyard early morning on September 6 under perfect conditions. After crushing into a stainless steel tank, lees contact was allowed for four months, then we let the fruit of Middleridge Ranch shine. We are thrilled that 2013 has proven to be another stellar vintage in Northern California, with fully mature fruit and soft, integrated tannins. This will be a precocious, satisfying vintage providing much pleasure for early consumption and yet also a candidate for the cellar.

2014 RED BELLY, NORTH COAST
Our Price: $20.00

It is hard to believe that this is our ninth edition of Red Belly, our ode to the South of France where blending varietals to achieve the perfect synergy is the way of life. 2014 Red Belly is a composition of two Carignane sites in Redwood Valley – our old friend Niemi vineyard and the addition of 100 year old vines from Casa Verde Vineyard, a ¼ mile to the south of Niemi. Lawer Vineyard in Knights Valley is the Syrah element, adding depth and power to the final blend. The final piece of the puzzle is Grenache from Charlie Sawyer’s vineyard above Ukiah, adding florals and that silky, spiced red cherry fruit. With the addition of Casa Verde, our production in 2014 reached 50 barrels of Red Belly. This is a classic vintage for Red Belly to be enjoyed anytime – fruit, spice, texture, tannins all in seamless cohesion.

2012 GRENACHE, MENDOCINO
Our Price: $28.00

This expression of Grenache is all about purity, ripeness, elegance and finesse. Aromas of black cherry, violet and bakers chocolate. On the palate, the cherry fruit is ripe and expressive, textured and subtlety viscous, like a creamed cherry flecked with cocoa nibs. Sleek and refined, with structure and ripeness in deft balance.

2013 SKYLARK ‘LAS AVES’, NORTH COAST
Our Price: $30.00

Las Aves is our continued exploration of Rhone varietals married with Cabernet Sauvignon as done brilliantly in the Priorat region of Spain. Our Niemi Vineyard Carignane, planted in the 1950s, works beautifully with Cabernet Sauvignon, lending an earth and structure component to the ripe fruit profile of the Cabernet. The blend is made complete by the floral character of Sawyer Vineyard Grenache and the density and midpalate of Lawer Vineyard Syrah. With a smaller Carignane crop in 2013, the blend this vintage has more inclusion of Lawer Syrah, which may be our finest vintage from this site.

47% Syrah 19% Cabernet Sauvignon 17% Grenache 17% Carignane

Saturated ruby color. Aromatic dark berry fruit of cassis and blackberry with an intriguing forest floor element. The palate is layered with the dark berry fruit viscosity, tempered by the earth and soil note from the Carignane. The textural impression is rich without being heavy, with the fine-grained tannins completely woven into the fabric of fruit

2012 SKYLARK SYRAH, RODGERS CREEK VINEYARD, SONOMA COAST
Our Price: $40.00

Rodgers Creek Vineyard is planted on an elevated ridge in the Petaluma Gap area of the Sonoma Coast AVA. Planted to a Rhone clone on volcanic rock, this sloping hillside vineyard offers arresting views of the Sonoma coast to the west and San Pablo Bay and even San Francisco to the south. This is cool climate grape-growing at its finest, with coastal winds and fog tempering the sunny California climate. The clonal selection is perfect for this microclimate, offering a unique combination of Old World aromatics and California fruit profile. We use whole clusters in the fermentation here, as is done in the Rhone Valley, to emphasize the specific character of this vineyard. The result is highly perfumed, aromatic and complex Syrah with loads of personality. 175 cases produced

Tasting notes by the highly respected Jeb Dunnuck of The Wine Advocate:
"Another outstanding wine from this team, the 2012 Syrah Rodgers Creek was fermented with 30% whole clusters and aged in 25% new French oak. It has a Northern Rhone-like fell in its peppery, olive, bacon fat and dark fruit-scented bouquet. This gives way to a medium-bodied, supple, textured red that has solid mid-palate concentration and a great finish. Drink it anytime over the coming 5 – 7 years."

2011 LAWER VINEYARD, KNIGHTS VALLEY
Our Price: $28.00

Opaque. Beguiling nose of bacon fat, raspberry and iron rich graphite. The dark fruit viscosity is buffered by structure and acidity, leading into a focused, pure finish. Very approachable now with a decant and this vintage will age gracefully.

2013 ALONDRA CABERNET SAUVIGNON, NAPA
Our Price: $45.00

2013 Alondra Cabernet is sourced from an organic vineyard on Mee Lane in the Rutherford appellation of Napa Valley. The soil composition here, gravel and alluvial loam, is perfectly suited to the production of Cabernet Sauvignon. 2013 was a generous vintage in Napa, with no real heat spikes or adverse weather conditions. We harvested on October 23, hand sorted in the vineyard, cold soaked in the winery, then fermented in a small, open top tank. The barrel regimen is French wood, 25% new but without any evident new wood characters. Our goal here is to produce varietally pure Cabernet that is versatile and elegant tableside. 200 cases produced.

Ruby/violet. Black cherry, cassis, roasted sweet herbs, and a sprinkling of that classic Rutherford dust. The palate is elegant and perfumed, with the fruit and earth components combining to ensure that real sense of place. As with many 2013s, the finishing tannins are fine-grained and silky, providing for early enjoyment.
