2016 PINK BELLY ROSE, MENDOCINO
The goal for Pink Belly Rose is to bring Provence to you. Lofty aspiration for sure, but we think we have all the right components to do it. Grenache planted on rocky subsoils, picked early just for rose, pressed after minimal skin contact for that touch of color, and then off to its stainless steel home for upbringing. Rose for the purist. We took a larger section of Kurt Ashurstís Grenache vineyard to increase our production because we canít ever seem to have enough Pink Belly Rose.
Pale salmon color. The aromatics begin as crushed cherry and strawberry, then fan into citrus skin and orange peel, finishing with a floral topnote. The palate is sleek and refined, with stony soil notes inside the red cherry and citrus fruit profile. The lingering finish is zesty, fresh and bone dry.
